The Third Band

The Third Band is a musical project between Larry Van Kriedt and Jeremy Platt. The duo feature live performances and recordings in a variety of styles and draw on influences from all over the globe. Their aim is to create music which is a synthesis of global influences and experiences.

Larry Van Kriedt is a singer-songwriter record-producer whose music is a mix of jazz, melodic pop, blues & rock. An original member of rock band AC/DC, Larry was heavily influenced by his father’s music (Dave Van Kriedt was a big name on the West Coast jazz scene having played and recorded with Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, and the Stan Kenton Big Band). Larry’s solo album “Finally” was released in2021 and the single “Daddy was a Dude” was the Record of the week on Jazz FM.
A world traveler, Larry left his native city of San Francisco at the age of 15 moving to Sydney Australia with family where he lived for many years before moving on to more exotic places - Thailand, Morocco, Andalucia, Paris - finally settling down in the UK where he now lives. Primarily a vocalist and guitarist, Larry is also well known for his playing on bass and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument).

Multi Instrumentalist Jeremy Platt (keyboards, guitar ,vocals among others) works in the field of jazz, soul and related music. He has recorded a piano trio album “Jazz Soul Moment” and wrote and played on Frank Felix’s album “Tales from the Funky Underground”. His music has been described by UK trombonist Dennis Rollins as “intense, joyous and always groovin’ ”. Jeremy has accompanied many British Jazz musicians including Jim Mullen and Derek Nash.

The attached video shows the current live incarnation of the band which is available for gigs. Here they are joined by drummer Geoff Hewitt who has performed with many people including Lamin African Roots and various gospel artists.
